ADELPHI MASTERFIL LAUNCHES NEW EQUIPMENT RANGE DEDICATED TO THE OVER THE COUNTER AND CONSUMER MARKET
– PPMA Show, Hall 5, Stand E86 –
The forthcoming PPMA show will see the launch of a new machine series by Masterfil – the Masterfil Pharma and Cosmetic Range of in-line and rotary machines – consisting of compact machines dedicated to customers manufacturing consumer goods and over the counter medical products – an expanding market sector for Masterfil.
Masterfil, a UK manufacturer of liquid filling and capping machines, has supplied the world’s leading oil, agrochemical and food companies for almost 30 years. Historically the company has specialised in producing system solutions which handle industrial large volume packs – 5 litres to drums – particularly important for companies within the chemical and oil industries. However, Masterfil has recently seen an increase in demand for more compact filling and capping lines for many of the smaller consumer goods products – including shampoos, syrups, ointments and shower gel etc.
David Routley, Managing Director of Masterfil explains: “Many of these products demand flexible solutions from modern production machines to increase efficiency and speed of changeover. Plus a key concern for pharma and cosmetic customers is the need to have systems which can be cleaned thoroughly. Having completed a review of our existing customer base, we predict that 70% of our clients have a requirement for our systems which meet these standards.”
The new Masterfil Pharma and Cosmetic Range of four machines consist of Servo and Rotary systems – all offering a compact solution and the ability to handle fills from 10cc up to 1 litre. To achieve effective CIP – reaching the exacting standards of multinational customers – a key design objective was to minimise crevices within the system.
The Servo system starts in semi automatic mode – running up to 60-120 containers per minute – and is based on the upgraded Response Filling Machine. The Response is capable of filling containers with heavy or difficult liquid, such as face creams or thick gels and now offers both single and a duplex filling system – a new design unique to the industry.
Ideal for customers dealing with numerous changovers the Compact Recipe Driven Minifil and Compact Servo Driven MiniCap offers a pre-programmed bespoke menu set to the customer’s product requirements. With simple computer interfacing a changeover can be completed in five minutes. The Servo Driven MiniCap is capable of both standard and bespoke closures that are found on cosmetic and pharma packs. However rather than manually trimming to match each batch, the servo sets itself to the desired input torque and gives a more consistent in-process finish.
Finally the Rotary system, consisting of a Monoblock Filler and Capping Machine, utilizes the same recipe principles of the Servo but with additional heads on a rotary base – up to 12 fillers and 12 cappers – to deal with higher production requirements of up to 250 per minute.
After joining the Adelphi Group of Companies in 2007 – to extend Adelphi’s product range of specialist packaging machines and continue to meet the demand for high volume producers – Masterfil’s designers were able to bring together the knowledge behind Adelphi’s laboratory scale machines with their own experience of robust equipment to create the range of machines which make up the new Masterfil Pharma and Cosmetic Packs brand. As David explains: “Eight qualified engineers with a combined 140 years of packaging automation systems experience have been focused on the project for nearly two years, representing a considerable confidence and financial investment from the Adelphi group during 2010 and 2011, this now comes to fruition with the launch of the new Masterfil Pharma and Cosmetic Range.”
Elements of the new range, including the computerised interfacing, will be available for visitors to view at the PPMA Show in Hall 5, Stand E86.
