Innovative new packaging solutions from Ilapak, which reduce operating costs and enhance performance and pack presentation and quality, will be on show at PPMA in September.  New this year is the Delta 4000/3SS, a high speed flowrapper with its own integrated zipper solution.  Also on show is the Carrera 1000/40, a PC-controlled flowrapper designed to cut packaging costs for unsupported fresh produce, a Vegatronic Combo  integrated bagging and weighing system, and the versatile and easy-to-use Smart flowrapper.

 The Delta 4000/3SS with zipper solution is on display for the first time.  This versatile and efficient packaging system is designed to offer manufacturers a high level of flexibility combined with high throughputs, excellent pack presentation and easy open/reclose features in addition to modified atmosphere packaging and hermetic sealing for products such as cheese, sausages, sliced meat and other  products.  The Delta 4000/3SS produces high quality, hermetically sealed, zipper packs in a convenient three sided seal and stand up formats, allowing maximum impact on the supermarket shelf.

Another important exhibit is the electronic Carrera 1000/40 which cuts packing costs and maximises production line efficiency for fresh produce such as tomatoes, avocadoes, kiwis, peppers, leeks and spring onions which being difficult to handle products have traditionally required a tray.  The Carrera 1000/40’s leading technology reduces packaging material waste and weight significantly by eliminating the need for an acetate tray, whilst maintaining the highest levels of production efficiency.  

 The machine is specifically designed to delicately handle unsupported fruit, whilst dramatically reducing the extent that the fruit moves around throughout the packing process.  Even if there is a wide variation in the size of the fruit, the Carrera 1000/40’s specially designed product control system allows the packers to effectively use its standard no-product-no-bag, misplaced product detection features and a 64 programme memory for maximising fruit packing line efficiency, in addition to the packaging cost and weight savings. 

Pack presentation is another important advantage and the Carrera 1000/40 produces an attractive, high quality flow-wrapped pack with considerable shelf appeal.  The machine features all commercially available electronic components and also benefits from improved hygiene levels, thanks to a new design of infeed and film feed system.

Also on show is the competitively priced Vegatronic 500 Combo system, a fully integrated Vegatronic 500 bagging machine, 10 head Weightronic weigher and electronic control platform.  The high quality system is particularly versatile and ideal for packing delicate products such as confectionery, snacks, crisps, fruit, produce, cereals and frozen foods.  

 The bagging and weighing system is extremely quick and easy to use thanks to its integrated electronic platform and single, integrated touch screen interface which controls both the Vegatronic 500 and the Weightronic multi-head weigher.  Features include a quick bag size change-over, the ability to produce a wide range of pack sizes and formats, no-product-no-bag and a configuration for both PE and heat-sealable films.

Another advantage is its compact footprint and reduced product drop height which allows it to gently handle delicate products.  It can produce a wide variety of packs, including pillow packs, block bottom bags and gusseted packs, at speeds of up to 90 packs a minute.

Finally, at the entrance to the exhibition, Ilapak’s new Smart flowrapper is on display.  Smart is versatile and easy to use and designed for first time users of automatic packaging machines.  It is capable of high speeds (up to 100 packs a minute) and ideal for a wide range of food and non-food products, from bakery products, fresh produce and confectionery to toiletries and medical equipment. 

 PC controlled, Smart has a colour touch screen operator interface so is exceptionally easy to operate, making product changeovers quick to carry out.  It also offers no-product-no-bag, misplaced product detection and automatic size change facilities
