The fully automated & efficient site is now fully operational and integrated into Yearsley Systems

Hams Hall, Yearsley Logistics newest acquisition, is now fully operational and integrated with Yearsley Logistics systems and is the first “Super Hub” to go live, following an open day at the site on the 28th February 2013.

The open day which was attended by clients, representatives from FSDF and the BFFF as well as media, industry executives and the Deputy Mayor for North Warwickshire, provided an opportunity to showcase the impressive 200,000sq ft fully automated crane store, which enables Yearsley Logistics to offer an extremely efficient consolidation centre, with exceptional levels of service at very cost effective rates.

Situated in arguably one of the best locations in the country, the depot is close to 5 major motorways, and is ideal for consolidating stock from around the UK and abroad. Location benefits include reducing food miles and carbon output which ultimately saves on transport costs. The fully automated crane store offers many other economic advantages – electricity savings are made due to the high bay design, minimal light requirements and the reduction in door openings. In-store software has been designed and programmed to marshal direct onto conveyor staging lanes, allowing just in time loading for our customers. In line with the Company’s CSER strategy, solar panels will be fitted shortly, making Hams Hall one of the most efficient and sustainable cold stores in the UK.

Having invested heavily since purchase, the depot is now fully integrated with all Yearsley Logistics systems, as well as being adapted internally to service a far wider range of customer requirements. As with all other major depots, the store is operational 24/7 offering day 1 for day 2 to major retailers. NetStock the online information system is also fully functional giving real time access to all stock information in a format requested by the individual client.

At the open day Managing Director, Harry Yearsley commented “Yearsley Logistics idea of “Super Hubs” is to offer primary consolidation centres at strategic locations across the UK in order to satisfy efficiently, the logistical needs of manufacturers and importers for deliveries into their clients in retail or foodservice. Other Hubs planned are at Heywood in Manchester, which is due for completion in May 2013, and at Peterborough which is going in for detailed planning imminently. Hams Hall is our first fully operational and integrated and remains the ultimate destination for clients who want to take advantage of Yearsley Logistics nationwide network of depots and the exceptional levels of customer service and information we provide”

Graeme Day, Trade and Sales Manager at the BFFF commented “The recent open day at Hams Hall consolidation centre showed the best in technology and in what Yearsley Logistics can ultimately offer; the continued progress and forward thinking strategy of the company, should reassure existing and potential clients and confirm their position as one of the UK’s leading frozen food distributors and logistics providers.”
