As a precautionary measure, Diageo is recalling its newly launched new non-alcoholic beer – Guinness 0.0 – in Great Britain because of a microbiological contamination which may make some cans of the product unsafe to consume. The issue is isolated to Guinness 0.0 and no other Guinness variants or brands are affected.

A microbiological contamination has occurred during the production process and the brewer is investigating to determine the root cause. Production will only recommence when the problem has been eliminated.

Diageo is working with the supermarkets and other retailers to remove all stock from shelves and communicate this product recall to consumers in Great Britain.

Guinness 0.0 is brewed at the famous St James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin and is made using the same natural ingredients as in traditional Guinness – water, barley, hops and yeast – before gently removing the alcohol through a cold filtration method. The cold filtration process allows the alcohol to be filtered out without presenting thermal stress to the beer, protecting the integrity of its taste and character.
