Unilever is strengthening its Home Care business with the acquisition of Blueair, the world’s leading supplier of innovative mobile indoor air purification technologies and solutions. Launched in 1996 in Stockholm, Blueair had a turnover of US$106 million in 2015 and is a leading player in the premium category of air purifiers in markets like China, US, Japan, South Korea and India.

This significant venture in air purification will further complement Unilever’s existing water purification business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory and other approvals.

Unilever recently acquired Dollar Shave Club®, a US-based full male grooming business for an undisclosed sum to expand its Personal Care business. In 2015, DSC had turnover of US$152 million and is on track to exceed US$200 million in turnover in 2016. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
